dubbii is an iPhone and iPad app from ADHD Love that body doubles you through everyday tasks. You pick a task like washing the dishes or paying bills, and a video of Rich and Rox from ADHD Love does it alongside you in small steps. The app also has live group sessions, reminders it calls nudges, and badges. You can try one task for free; the full library needs a subscription.

The short verdict:

* **Best at:** chores, self care and admin, the tasks that are boring rather than hard, especially if you have ADHD.
* **Main limits:** Apple devices only, a video library built around household tasks rather than desk work, and a subscription for anything past the preview.
* **Price:** free to download with one task to try, then a subscription. The US App Store lists two options, $9.99 and $49.99 [1].

Roomie Cafe is a free focus timer you share with friends. We make it, so we are not neutral about this category, and we mention it briefly near the end. This review is based on dubbii's App Store listing and website, checked on October 28, 2026. We have not been paying subscribers.

## What is dubbii?

dubbii calls itself "the body doubling app" [1]. Body doubling means doing a task in the presence of someone else so it is easier to start and keep going. The idea grew up in ADHD and neurodivergent communities before anyone studied it. The first academic paper on it surveyed 220 people and found that most had used body doubling long before they knew the name, for tasks as different as studying, dishes and exercise [3]. Our guide to [what body doubling is](/blog/what-is-body-doubling) covers the basics.

dubbii is made by ADHD Love, the account run by Rich and Rox, and published on the App Store by Pink Media LTD [1]. It launched in November 2023 and was last updated on October 14, 2026, to version 4.5.0 [1]. The listing says it has helped more than 500,000 people, a number we could not check independently [1].

## How dubbii works

The app has four parts [1, 2].

### Body doubling videos

This is the core of dubbii. Each task is a video of Rich and Rox doing the same job alongside you, so you have company while you do it. The task is broken into small steps so you only have to face the next one [1, 2]. The listing groups the tasks like this [1]:

| Category | Example tasks |
| --- | --- |
| Bedroom | Making the bed, changing the sheets |
| Laundry | Putting a load on, hanging clothes, folding and putting away |
| Cleaning | Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and lounge cleans |
| Kitchen | Unloading the dishwasher, washing the dishes, taking the bins out |
| Self care | Starting your day, bedtime routine, teeth, showering, breathing exercises |
| Decluttering | A "room of doom" clearout, clearing piles, sorting your wardrobe |
| Admin | Paying bills, replying to a text, making a phone call, post and paperwork, email |
| Studying | Preparing your workspace, studying |
| Holiday | Packing and unpacking |

The small steps matter. In a meta analysis of 691 correlations, task aversiveness, meaning how unpleasant a task feels, was one of the strongest and most consistent predictors of procrastination [5]. A task that looks like one small step feels less unpleasant than a task that looks like a whole messy room.

### Live body doubling

dubbii also hosts live sessions. According to the listing, you can join hosted sessions, drop in to work quietly alongside others, or join a community power hour that runs every three hours [1]. An October 2026 update made the live chat faster and added mentions and chat notifications [1]. The listing does not say whether you need a camera or microphone for these sessions.

### Nudges

Nudges are reminders you schedule once or on repeat, for dubbii's own tasks or for tasks you write yourself, and you tick them off on a personal to do list [1]. There is also a PDA mode for people who are demand avoidant [1].

Reminders tied to a time are a sensible design choice. Plans that spell out when and where you will act ("at 8pm, after dinner, I will wash the dishes") reliably help people follow through: across 94 tests, these plans had a medium to large effect on reaching goals (d = .65) [6].

### Badges

You collect badges as you finish tasks, and you can share them under #dubclub. dubbii says its streaks never reset when you miss a day [1], which is kinder than most habit apps.

## How much does dubbii cost?

dubbii is free to download. The free preview lets you pick one task to do with Rich and Rox, and you can create unlimited nudges [1].

Everything else needs a subscription: the full task list, the live sessions, and progress tracking with badges [1]. The US App Store lists two subscription purchases, at $9.99 and $49.99, without saying which billing period each one covers [1]. The description mentions annual subscribers, so at least one of them is yearly. Check the price inside the app before you subscribe, because App Store prices vary by country.

One detail we liked: dubbii says it reminds annual subscribers before their renewal date, and asks whether to keep the subscription active if you have not used the app for a while [1]. The listing calls this avoiding the "ADHD tax" of forgotten renewals.

## dubbii pros

* **Built for chores and self care.** Few body doubling tools cover showering, laundry or a phone call you keep putting off.
* **Works any time.** The videos do not depend on a schedule or on someone else being online.
* **Small steps by design.** Each task arrives already broken down, which removes a planning step before you start.
* **Gentle tone.** Streaks that never reset and renewal reminders show the app was designed with ADHD in mind.
* **Well rated.** 4.8 out of 5 from 758 ratings on the US App Store and 4.9 from 480 in the UK, as of October 28, 2026 [1].

## dubbii cons

* **Apple only.** dubbii runs on iPhone and iPad and needs iOS 15.1 or later [1]. Its website links only to the App Store [2], and we found no Android version.
* **A fixed library.** You can only body double with a video for tasks dubbii has filmed. Your own tasks get nudges, not videos.
* **Light on desk work.** Studying has two entries; there is nothing aimed at writing, coding or other long work sessions.
* **Recorded rather than live by default.** A video does not notice whether you showed up. If knowing that a real person expects you is what gets you moving, the live sessions or a different tool may suit you better.
* **Subscription after one task.** The preview is small, so you will decide quickly whether to pay.

## Is dubbii safe?

The App Store privacy section says dubbii may collect identifiers, usage data, diagnostics and user content, and that this data is not linked to your identity [1]. The app is rated 4+ [1]. As always, read the privacy policy linked from the listing before you share anything personal in the live chat.

## Who dubbii is the better choice for

dubbii fits you well if:

* Your hardest tasks are household jobs, self care or admin.
* You want help at 11pm, when nobody else is around.
* You like being walked through a task step by step.
* You use an iPhone or iPad.

If chores are your main struggle, our guides to [body doubling for cleaning](/blog/body-doubling-for-cleaning) and [getting motivated to clean](/blog/how-to-get-motivated-to-clean) have more ideas that work with or without an app.

## Who would prefer something else

* **You want a person who expects you.** A scheduled one to one session gives you a partner who notices if you do not turn up. Our [Focusmate review](/blog/focusmate-review) covers the best known option.
* **You use Android.** Look at the browser based tools in our [best body doubling apps](/blog/best-body-doubling-apps-2026) roundup.
* **Your hard tasks happen at a desk.** Writing, coding and studying usually need long blocks of quiet company more than a guide on video.

## Where Roomie Cafe fits

[Roomie Cafe](/) is for the desk side of the day. You press start, pick what you are working on, and see which of your friends are focusing right now and on what. There is no webcam, no microphone and nothing to book. When the timer ends, you write a line about what you got done, and friends can cheer and comment. A meta analysis of 241 studies found that the mere presence of others speeds up simple tasks and slows down complex ones, with small effects either way [4], so treat company as a nudge to start rather than a guarantee.

## Our verdict

dubbii does one thing well: it keeps you company through the dull everyday jobs that are hardest to start with ADHD, at any hour, without a camera. If those jobs are your problem and you own an iPhone, try the free task and see if Rich and Rox get you moving. If your struggle is long work sessions, or you want a real person to show up for, pick a tool built for that.
