About

About Roomie Cafe

Roomie Cafe is a free focus timer you share with friends. Press start, do the work and see who else is focusing right now. It runs in the browser and on iPhone.

Why it exists

Focus comes easier when other people are quietly working nearby. That is why libraries and cafes fill up with people who could just as well work at home. Online, the choices were video calls with strangers, sessions you have to book ahead, or apps that turn focus into a scoreboard.

Roomie Cafe keeps the cafe feeling and drops the rest. There is no camera and nothing to book. You press start, you see who else is focusing, and when the timer ends you share where you got. There are no streaks to break, no leaderboards and no productivity scores. A missed day is just an empty square on your calendar.

The thinking behind it is in our manifesto.
